Turkiye’s first lady urges world to help flood victims in Pakistan 2025.
Emine Erdoğan says Turkish people stand by Pakistan, pray for people and extend every possible support
Emine Erdoan, First Lady of Turkiye, has called on the international community to provide immediate assistance to the victims of the devastating floods in Pakistan.
Erdoan claimed in a post on the social media platform X that she had been to Pakistan in 2010 and had witnessed firsthand the plight of families affected by the floods.
She stated in her writing that "at that time, Turkiye was among the first nations to extend a helping hand to Pakistan." “Today, the prayers, hearts, and aid of the Turkish people are once again with Pakistan and its people.” She said the Turkish Red Crescent (Kızılay) was closely monitoring the situation in affected areas and was working to provide urgent assistance including health care, shelter, food, and water.
Offering prayers for those who lost their lives in the disaster, Erdoğan wished a swift recovery for the injured. She also appealed to the global community to stand by Pakistan in these difficult days. She went on to say, "It is my hope that the spirit of solidarity and compassion will assist in healing the wounds of the victims."
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif received a phone call from Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan earlier on Thursday, expressing his condolences for the recent floods in Pakistan's widespread destruction and loss of life. Erdogan conveyed Turkiye’s solidarity with the people of Pakistan during this difficult time and offered full assistance in ongoing rescue and relief efforts.
He reiterated that Turkey is prepared to provide comprehensive support to Pakistan in times of crisis and stands by Pakistan steadfastly.
